More About This Course
Participants in this course will build a repertoire of physical experience and knowledge of sound as a healing and balancing tool. You will learn what types of sounds and music works well for you in a given situation, and perhaps more important, what doesn't work for you. There is no musical experience required for any of these classes.
Psychoacoustic Music
Within 5 minutes of walking into a store or environment where music is playing, most people’s heartbeat will match the beat of the music. This in turn affects the breathing and brainwave rhythms. In this class, we will experience music with specific intentions to reduce stress, put you to sleep, increase focus and attention, and so on. Psychoacoustic music intentionally manipulates major body rhythms for a positive or specific effect. Experiencing how this music affects you and the scientific support behind it will give you a strong basis from which to make decisions about the music you choose to listen to and what effects it will have.
Brainwave Entrainment Music
Brainwave Entrainment music is one type of Psychoacoustic music. It is treated separately because of the specific effect of the technology used in the recordings. Participants will experience different brainwave states; what they feel like in the body and how they are induced by the sound. Although these recordings produce a similar effect as the ones in the psychoacoustic category, people generally respond differently to the sound and the feeling states the music produces. This knowledge allows you to feel the difference between the two categories and whether or not this is a healing tool that is useful to you.
Tibetan and Singing Crystal Bowls
Singing bowls produce similar effects in the body and mind to recordings within the two categories above, but from a more physical approach. Participants will feel the effects of the bowls by playing a variety of bowls and experiencing their sound. Singing bowls affect the mind in a similar way to brainwave entrainment music.
Bowls have been used in conjunction with chemotherapy and other medical treatments to enhance the healing process, and to reduce the need for medications
Tuning your Body with Your Voice
We all naturally use our voice to help us feel better. Groaning and sighing are two examples. This class introduces simple and easy techniques to use the voice to help bring the body and mind into balance.
Absolutely no vocal experience is necessary - just a willingness to explore.
Vocal Harmonics
Learn how easy and fun it is to create one of the most sacred sounds on the planet. Bring balance to the mind, body, and spirit - a significant catylist for healing. This class is a continuation of the previous one. We will be learning and practicing the ancient vocal technique of vocal harmonics or singing two notes at once - an extremely powerful sound.
Guided Meditation and Sound
Studies show that the combination of guided meditation and sound are more effective at boosting the immune system than either guided meditation or sound alone. This is an effective way of creating the relaxation response in the body. A major stress-buster.
Sound and Emotion
This class will begin with some background on emotions and their effects on the body. We will then experience how sound and voice can be used to help clear the negative emotions that get stuck in the body. Get rid of that 'knot' where ever it's stuck. The results with our students have been amazing!
Song of the Soul
This experience of receiving sound and intention from others can only be described as Pure Bliss! The Group picture above was taken immediately following this session - have you ever seen a happier group of people?
This class will also include experience with other sound tools including the drum, song pods, tingshas, the horizontal gong, and others.
